Job Title: Director of Fulfillment

Position Overview

Director of Fulfillment is responsible for smooth and efficient operations and records of all products shipped and received. DOF oversees warehouse operations including but not limited to material handling, shipping, storage and transportation. This position is actively involved in communicating with a variety of departments including sales, customer service, purchasing, accounting and production.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for day to day operation of the distribution center.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and conditions of shipments.
  • Responsible for accuracy, security and loss management of all warehouse assets.
  • Determine work procedures, assigning individual tasks and expediting workflow.
  • Determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Communicate job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing job contributions and performance.
  • Maintain receiving, warehouse and shipping operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing operational programs and policies.
  • Oversee arrangement of transportation services. Effectively use and understand costing differences in methods and carriers.
  • Forecast and prepare for spikes on the volume of product to be shipped.
  • Provide accurate and timely data on current shipping status of all orders.
  • Verify that all material is clearly and correctly tagged and/or identified ant that all warehouse equipment is properly maintained and handled.
  • Develop, revise and enforce inventory management and procedures including record keeping, work instructions, quality procedures and other standard operation practices.
  • Assist with physical inventories, correct inventory discrepancies and locate missing items.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, recommend and implement process changes, upgrades to equipment and improve production methods to increase efficiency to shipping department.
  • Plans and monitors the department’s safety program, ensuring adherence to all company policy, procedures and regulations to ensure a safe, clean and orderly operation.

  • Knowledge of warehouse and inventory practices
  • Proficiency in computer systems and technology
  • Effective communications skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Forklift certification

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 or more years working in supply chain, shipping and or warehouse environment
  • 3 or more years of experience managing employees
