Job Title: Retail Sales Field Support

Reports To: Menards Sales Manager
Location: South Kansas City, MO

Position Overview

This position works as a member with the Retail Sales Team to maintain customer relationships by representing Sioux Chief at Customer Events.  This position will require about 20% travel.

Essential Job Functions

  • Represent Sioux Chief in the field at mandatory events to train customers on product feature & benefits, installation procedures, etc. Events include: Contractor Preview Nights, New Store Openings, Employee Training, Corporate Training, and Retail Trade Shows.
  • Responsible for all items related to in-store POP, signage, and displays (help design, build, ship/deliver, install).
  • Manage & Upload new product imports, product information, product photos and all required information on Customer Vendor Portals/Item Data Management systems
  • Build strong relationship with customers, understanding & servicing their business needs.
  • Possess satisfactory SCM product and installation knowledge as well as competitive product knowledge to up-sell and also to provide assistance to customers requiring technical support.
  • Quarterly store walks to research/document the Retail landscape (competitor information, Sioux Chief product placement, stock levels, product quality).
  • Prepare Line Review quotations for customers; this includes competitive shopping, providing target prices, and other pertinent information for Pricing Director and Product Group Managers to help maintain or gain new business with Retail customers.
  • Assist in the administration and communication of programs, trade shows/markets, promotions, and special nets.
  • Work with necessary departments to coordinate custom quote process and follow through to customer.
  • Assist the Retail Sales Manager & Forecasting group in the planning, forecasting and management of the Retail customers.
  • Make recommendations and work closely with Sales Manager to correct unacceptable margin levels.
  • Maintain and utilize Market Net Database, communicating special net prices to sales management, customers and reps.
  • Demonstrate general plumbing practical knowledge and be familiar with local and national plumbing codes.
  • Assist in preparation for presentations, sales meetings, plant tours, etc.; this includes but is not limited to: note taking, round table involvement, sample requests, room set-up, clean-up, entertainment and follow-up.

Requirements

  • Listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Analysis and problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented and possess excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically Excel and Access
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of basic telephone technology
  • Travel – Approximately 20% travel, subject to change.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands such as walking on the plant floor, job sites, lifting product, setting up displays using hand and power tools.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Retail sales knowledge preferred
  • Previous sales or customer service experience in the plumbing industry preferred
  • Rough Plumbing product knowledge preferred
